“The Taxi of Tomorrow competition was an exercise in missed opportunities. This is a raw deal for New York City, and it’s high time we demand more from the companies we subsidize. Taxpayers have been asked to foot the billion-dollar bill for an inaccessible vehicle with no promise of new local jobs—all for a company that does business in Iran. I commend Comptroller Liu for pledging to block Nissan’s contract if these vehicles are not made accessible to all New Yorkers, and urge the Bloomberg Administration to use this opportunity to secure a better Taxi of Tomorrow for New York City.”
