In Fall 2011, Public Advocate Bill de Blasio launched a new initiative aimed at identifying and eliminating unneccessary and costly bureaucracy in New York City government.  The Public Advocate's "Red Tape Reports" define reoccuring problems and outline recommendations for streamling and simplifying government operations to better serve New Yorkers.
